About Us

Newbury Primary School is a government school which caters for students in Years Prep to 6. It is located in the north western growth corridor of Craigieburn and has experienced a rapidly increasing population. The school opened in 2017 with 279 students and currently has over 1200 students. Growth is predominantly at the Prep to Year Two levels with a large percentage of students having English as an additional language.

 

Newbury Primary School prides itself on providing a safe, secure and educationally stimulating learning environment. We focus on the emotional, social and academic development of every student as an avenue of developing confident, creative, compassionate and informed citizens who are actively engaged in their community.  The strong sense of community is evident in the continuous, honest and open dialogue between all stakeholders.

 

Our teachers work in learning communities to plan and develop learning programs to cater for their students’ individual needs and provide personalised learning. The school upholds high expectations of all and the school values of respect, integrity, effort and community are embedded in all aspects of school life. Newbury Primary School has an EAL population of 83% with 33 different languages being spoken including Punjabi, English, Hindi and Arabic.

 

The school’s camping program is still developing however we have the following in place:

Prep Breakfast

Year 1 Afternoon Tea

Year 2 Dinner

Year 5, 4, 5 & 6 Extended Day Excursion

 

Students are provided with Specialist programs in Health and Physical Education, Science and The Arts (Visual, Media and Performing).

Our outside spaces comprising of three playgrounds, two sandpits, grass-covered hills, two slides, an oval, various hard courts and a sensory garden provide students the opportunity to explore, run around and engage with their peers.
