At Newbury Primary School we encourage and support students’ curiosity through QUEST, an inquiry process consisting of Questioning, Understanding, Exploring, Summarising and Teaching. QUEST is designed to develop students’ independence as they investigate their own areas of interest within a specific topic during each school term. Students critically question their understandings of concepts, and experiment and research, before sharing their new knowledge with their peers. They have the opportunity to choose they own specific topic to research, and presentation method, allowing students to showcase their passion and creativity.

An exploration into personal histories; homes and journeys; The discoveries, explorations and migrations of humankind; the relationships between and the interconnectedness of individuals and civilizations.
Time and Place

Healthy Me
An exploration into the health, safety and wellbeing in our community; the relationship between healthy lifestyles and wellbeing; managing social, emotional and physical changes.
Our World
An exploration into the geological patterns and changes; identifying climates and landscapes; researching connections and diversity with other environments around the world.
Young Designers
An exploration into the design cycle; becoming critical users of technologies, designers and producers. Use resources to create innovative solutions to meet current and future need, considering economic, environmental and social sustainability.
Changing Planet
An exploration into the natural world and its laws; the interaction between the natural world (physical and biological)
and human societies; how humans impact the natural world.
Living Things
An exploration into living and non-living things; identifying observable features, adaptations and comparing key stages of lifecycles in regards to growth and survival.
